What is Consumer Participation?
Consumer Participation is about consumers, carers and the Consumer having their say, listening to the views and ideas of others, and working together to help the health service respond and reflect the needs of the community.
Participation occurs when members of the Consumer are “meaningfully involved in decision making about health policy and planning, care and treatment, and the wellbeing of themselves and the community”. (Department of Health Policy ‘Doing it with us not for us’ 2010-2013).
Peninsula Health has a strong commitment to Consumer participation, involving consumers and Consumer members in a range of planning and service delivery activities throughout Peninsula Health.
