Graduate Nurse and Midwifery Programs
Peninsula Health provides an environment of support conducive to the continuing development of the beginning practitioner. Four Graduate Programs are available for newly Registered Nurses and Midwives.
Further information will be available at the Information Evening on Wednesday June 15 2011 at 7pm in the Academic Centre at Frankston Hospital. Graduate Nurse Program – General & Sub-Acute Streams
The Graduate Nurse Program is a 52-week program commencing on 6th February 2012. Mid year entry may be possible depending on availability of positions. General and Sub-acute Streams are conducted concurrently through the Program. Full time (including ADO) and part time positions are available. All applicants must be registered with Computer Match to be considered for a position in the program.
All program participants complete three clinical rotations: two are core rotations and the third rotation can be an elective rotation in one of the specialty areas listed on the brochure. 5 paid Continuing Professional Development days are provided. The content reflects the learning needs of the beginning practitioner and is mostly determined by the Graduate Nurses. All Graduate Nurses have access to a dedicated E-learning page.

Graduate Nurse Program – Mental Health
The Mental Health Program offers new graduates the opportunity to develop the clinical and interpersonal skills to promote the wellbeing of individuals in the challenging field of mental health. Graduate Nurses are offered an 18-month contract to facilitate completion of the Graduate Diploma in Nursing (Mental Health) in conjunction with Monash University. Graduate Nurses will experience a range of inpatient and community clinical areas during the program. Each Graduate Nurse will have the opportunity to participate in Clinical Supervision with Mental Health Nurse Educators. This assists with professional growth through reflective practice. All applicants must be registered with Computer Match to be considered for a position in the program.
Graduate Midwifery Program
The Graduate Midwifery Program is structured to enable the Midwifery Graduate to consolidate their learning within the Integrated Women’s Health Unit at Frankston Hospital. The program runs over 52 weeks for Bachelor of Midwifery Graduates and 26 weeks for Graduate Diploma of Midwifery Graduates. Graduates will rotate through all areas of the Integrated Women’s Health Unit, Team Midwifery and Women’s Services, with an elective rotation to Special care Nursery. All applications for Bachelor of Midwifery students must be through the Computer Match system. Graduate Diploma of Midwifery students must apply directly to Peninsula Health.
