Laura Evans received the Graduate Nurse Award of Excellence at the 2009 Nursing and Midwifery Certificate and Awards Presentation held on Tuesday.
The award recognises the Graduate Nurse who has displayed excellence both clinically and professionally and demonstrates the values of Peninsula Health.
42 Graduate Nurses were presented with certificates, congratulating them on their achievements with 39 deciding to continue their employment at Peninsula Health.
Five Mental Health Graduate Nurses received their certificates, with four continuing their employment with Peninsula Health.
All seven graduates from the Graduate Midwifery Program will stay with Peninsula Health.
“We had a highly committed group of graduates, who successfully completed a challenging year, enhanced by a diverse range of clinical experiences gained throughout Peninsula Health,” said Jill Jones, Nurse Educator, Graduate Nurse Program.
Allison Marks was presented with the Mental Health academic achievement award.
Elise Murtagh was also recognised at the ceremony. Elise, who completed the Graduate Diploma of Nursing (Critical Care) with Monash University, was awarded the Margaret Brazier Award for outstanding achievement in critical care.
This award is named after the Pink Lady, Margaret Brazier, who passed away in Frankston’s Intensive Care Unit after she was involved in a serious car accident.
Professor Wendy Cross, Head of School, Nursing and Midwifery, Monash University, was the guest speaker and encouraged the graduates keep on learning throughout their careers.
